Why Mental Health Services?
The Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex (DFW) is home to over 350,000 veterans, and many are medically underserved due to the rising population in our community. The LMC mental health program strives to assist our members in alleviating mental or emotional illness, symptoms, conditions, or disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, and behavioral health issues.
Mental health is a critical component to overall wellbeing because it affects nearly every other aspect of life. Undiagnosed and untreated mental health issues play a large role in the growing number of homeless and jobless veterans. These factors compound the difficulties veterans experience when adapting to life after separation from service.
According to statistics, 1 in 4 people experience depression or other mental health issues in a year. The rate in the veteran community is five times higher than those of civilians.
Although military personnel and veterans have access to healthcare through the VA, we believe that military personnel and veterans should have access to a variety of healthcare options beyond those provided by the VA. Also, the (VA) is not set up to provide care for the family members of veterans at their facilities.
At Liberty Medical Center of Texas (LMC), we are committed to providing mental health services to all veterans, whether or not they use VA benefits. By choosing LMC as their provider of choice, veterans who are utilizing private insurance help us to continue providing services to veterans who are uninsured or underinsured.
